Pieces of Italy

Predstavte si snedého, tmavovlasého a pomerne vysokého muža v bielej košeli zastrčenej do svetlohnedých nohavíc, z ktorého priam cítiť charizmu a energiu už len keď sa na neho človek pozrie. Aspoň tak si predstavujem typického Taliana ja. Už dávno som si zamilovala ich sebavedomie, chuť baviť sa a nebrať veci veľmi vážne; a aj to je jeden z mnohých dôvodov, prečo sa do Talianska tak rada vraciam.

Imagine a swarthy, dark-haired and relativelly tall man dressed in a white shirt tucked into light-coloured trousers, from whom you can feel charisma and energy just when you look at him. That´s how I imagine a typical Italian man. I fell in love with their self-confidence, the desire to have fun and not to take things very seriously; and that´s also one of the many reasons why I like coming back to Italy.

Kúsok Talianska, ktorý sme objavovali tento rok bolo mesto Padova a na výlet sme sa šli pozrieť aj do svetoznámych Benátok. Padova má krásnu architektúru a doslova na každom rohu starého mesta je niečo zaujímavé. Ak tam niekedy zablúdite, tak určite navštívte Baziliku sv. Antona. Na všetkých nástenných maľbách, rôznych sochách a oknách je vidieť viacero rôznych umeleckých slohov. Je tam toho neuveriteľne veľa a naozaj sa je na čo pozerať. My sme sa ešte prešli po námestiach a uličkách, pofotili, čo sa dalo a unavení po ceste zo Slovenska sme sa vrátili na hotelovú izbu.

The pieces of Italy we discovered this year were the city of Padua and we also went to the world-famous Venice for a one day trip. Padua has a beautiful architecture and literally at every corner of the old town you can find something interesting. If you ever happen to get there, you should definitely visit Basilica of Saint Anthony. All the wall paintings, different sculptures and windows show various art styles. There is an incredible amount of things to see and it's worth going there. We also strolled through squares and streets, took pictures of everything that was possible and then returned to our hotel room, tired from the road trip from Slovakia.

Druhý deň už patril Benátkam. Auto sme sa rozhodli nechať v hoteli a ísť tam vlakom. Vyhli sme sa tak zdržaniam v mestách a z Padovy cesta trvala menej ako pol hodinu. No a čo dodať k samotným Benátkam? Sú nádherné. Blúdili sme pomedzi staré budovy a kostoly, prechádzali mostíkmi, ktoré malé ostrovčeky spájajú, a fotili každú druhú gondolu, okolo ktorej sme prešli. :D Už na prvý pohľad som sa zaľúbila do baziliky na námestí San Marco a krásny bol aj Grand Canal (najväčší v Benátkach). Náš krátky pobyt v Taliansku sa na nasledujúci deň skončil a my sme sa pohli ďalej, do Cannes.

On the second day we went to Venice. We decided to leave our car at the hotel and took a train instead. Thanks to that we avoided traffic jams in cities and the journey from Padua lasted less than half an hour. And what can I say about Venice itself? It´s beautiful. We wandered between old buildings and churches, crossed small bridges that connect different islands and photographed every other gondola. At first glance I fell in love with the Basilica of Saint Marco and Grand Canal was also stunning (the largest in Venice). Our short stay in Italy ended on the following day when we continued our journey to Cannes.
